Marine electrical systems cover all aspects of the generation and distribution of electrical power on board the vessel.
AC power is available from the shore power on the dock or from an on board generator set or inverter. DC power is generated from a battery charging device and stored in a battery system for use when no charging device is available. A general philosophy is to minimise the amount of engine run time that is required to keep batteries charged and electrical systems operating.
Power is managed and distributed throughout the vessel using distribution boards and electrical panels. Fuses and circuit breakers protect vessel wiring from overload conditions - thereby preventing overheating and potential fire risks.
Outback Marine are specialists in mobile electrical systems. We manufacture our own DC Distribution Boards and Electrical Panels to ensure that the highest level of safety and reliability standards are met in the area of DC power distribution.
Our electrical panel philosophy is to segregate the day to day operational functions away from the behind the scene system functions. And then when possible, we will organise each panel circuit by operational function rather than component so that the system is easy to drive. The vessel does not need to be a monument to the electrical panel yet we realise the need for good design and operation ergonomics. Computer aided design and manufacturing techniques are used to maintain a high standard of finish.
Outback Marine holds an electrical contracting license and employs electrical design engineers to ensure that our systems meet exacting standards.
